My husband’s “real foods” epiphany

My husband had a bit of a “real foods” epiphany this weekend and is now on board with eating a more natural diet.

Not that he wasn’t before…well, maybe 75%. Now it’s more like 90%. I’ll be letting him tell the story first-hand in a future blog post, but I wanted to write a little bit about what his revelation reinforced for me.

What he said to me was “I want to eat more natural foods. I just don’t know if it’s possible.” And that pretty much sums up the reason I’m writing this blog – we are constantly told that it’s your own responsibility to take care of your health – to eat properly, to exercise. But in reality, it’s not so much a choice (substitute A for B) as a massive undertaking involving the development of Sherlock-Holmes-like detective skills and Mother-Teresa-like patience (have you ever spent an hour or two in the grocery store deciphering and comparing labels? Not my idea of a fun family outing.)

My goal with this blog is to share what I find out; to give you the shortcuts that will make finding natural foods easier. And hopefully not to overwhelm you or have you give up, thinking it’s impossible to make changes, because it can definitely feel that way sometimes. And I want to find ways to do this without having to downsize your home to fund your grocery bill.

Wanting to change is only half the battle. The other half is figuring out how to make it happen.
